During the day, I tell Little Sweets that the thunder just sounds like a big car driving past.

Do we make up little stories to calm our own fears too?Tricia @ SweeterThanSweetshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14121024793476978443noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5699469497049302896.post-35847953778932479332011-06-13T16:09:57.496-04:002011-06-13T16:09:57.496-04:00I love that a song calmed her down. We didn't have a thunderstorm, but my little one had a hard time going to sleep last night, and after and hour of tossing and turning, I went in and hummed amazing grace- she went right to sleep.

Check out Thundercake by Patricia Polacco- It's a great book about coping with thunderstorms.Rebeccahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14431678965477649493noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5699469497049302896.post-62968949725363866802011-06-13T11:00:02.947-04:002011-06-13T11:00:02.947-04:00V didn't want to go to sleep last night becaus...V didn't want to go to sleep last night because of the thunder and kept saying she was scared of it...I didn't sing her a song, but told her how much I liked the thunder and how it almost sounded like the sky was purring. She liked that and slept soundly, thank Goodness. :)Erickahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10970653433366173538noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5699469497049302896.post-36178148205384739892011-06-13T09:08:59.895-04:002011-06-13T09:08:59.895-04:00Great post! We would cut off everything and try to be quiet. I have 2 little ones and we had a thunderstorm here the other day. My 2 year old thought it was a train. Either way, he did not like it. He instantly became quiet and still and within 10 minutes of me humming, he was sound asleep. I love the calmness that thunderstorms tend to bring. Have a wonderful Monday!Shelley (EvenAndy)http://www.evenandyblog.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5699469497049302896.post-42776378856432413722011-06-13T08:35:26.113-04:002011-06-13T08:35:26.113-04:00Can't say I like thunderstorms:) Even now, I ...Can't say I like thunderstorms:) Even now, I am slightly afraid of them.
